A Blouse - or an Origami Puzzle?

I'm using Butterick 6085, which is supposed to be  "Fast & Easy" - well that might be true if you've made lots of blouses before.

I've found a cotton type fabric in my "stash" that I bought on impulse on ebay one day, and it's been just sitting around for several months waiting for a project.

Having never made a blouse before, I am taking my time with this and reading the instructions.... Yet even so I managed some interesting puckers at the back of the neck once everything was turned right side out...

Ah!!... Out with the unpicker...

And at last the collar turns right way around and looks... WOW.... like a collar!  How did that happen?

And a sightly closer version...

Next time - sleeves and button holes etc....  But now dinner!  Phew!

Edit to add link to finishing the blouse: Making a Row of Button-Holes, Ta Da!

  1. Oh I can't encourage you enough. A cotton shirt can be a real pleasure to sew. I don't wear them anymore but years ago they were my favorite thing to make. I'll be back to see your finished project. Happy Sewing!

    1. Thank you! If I like how this one wears, I've another bit of cotton lined up. Second time around should be less confusing!

  4. That's looking great. Long time since I made a blouse, you may just have encouraged me to have a go again. Good lick with the rest. If its turns out half as well it will be brilliant.

    1. Thank you... It has been a learning curve, but really rather satisfying. Hopefully find a few hours to finish the rest in the next few days - and work out how to do button holes! LOL

  5. Envy going on here! I'm not brilliant at sewing (well to be more honest - I am rubbish at sewing!) But I am very good and appreciating and envying ! Lovely fabric and I am very impressed :)

    1. Thank you! I'm still waiting for my sewing machine to be mended so I can do the button holes... Have to admit though I wore the shirt out the other day over a tee-shirt - just all loose and un-done! Really want to get it finished now though!
