Patchwork Cushion for Me! :)

Time to use up some fabric scraps and make a cushion for my sewing chair!

I bought a few bits of fabric on ebay a while ago... and I fancy warm colours just now.  So some of these should look nice quilted up:

Dogs are keeping a look out for the fore-casted snow. No sign yet.

Loud 60's sort of material this, but one of those circle designs would be perfect as a centre piece.  I'm lazy and just cut around the square I have!

The rest of the quilted panel will be made up of 7cm wide strips - added clockwise to the centre square. Here I'm testing a layout.  I had to go looking for that dark green & this was a tiny piece which I think helps balance the brighter colours!

This is the quilted panel finished, and shaped to fit the chair in mind.  I sewed the whole panel onto layer of wadding taken from an old padded coat, and topstitched each joint "in the ditch" (Lovely phrase that!)

I then added a long green strip all the way around to give the cushion depth, and added a back piece the same size as the quilted piece and some velcro tabs. I also sewed 3 sides of a central square before stuffing:

Stitched up the final side of the central piece and finished stuffing.

This is the reverse - and the purple is from the lining of that old coat.  Just the wrestling match with a needle and thread to stitch up the gap remains.

And finally - comfort for me as well as the dogs!

It's almost too nice to sit on!  Well okay I'm not that proud ... it is rather comfy!

And the snow has finally arrived.....

    1. Thank you.... You should give sewing a go. Loads of good stuff online to learn from, and far too many ebay fabric bargains to keep up with! Pinterest is great too, for cataloguing ideas you find online for future use. ;) https://pinterest.com/salkeela/

    1. Thank you Sharon. I need to think what I'll attempt for the February Challenge... I quite like the idea of doing something a bit more adventurous with quilting.... Will have to think it all through.
